The Humble Quest to find Truth in a Confusing World

  • Thoughts from Watching a Car Chase

Today I was at home with a headache, so I had the TV volume real low…low enough to fall asleep but high enough to still understand what’s being said. Somewhere around 3 PM I heard that a car chase had begun and police were in pursuit…it actually was a U-Haul mover…but whatever. As I watched there were so many things that came to mind:

Thought #1: Surprisingly, U-Haul movers are a great vehicle to have for a car chase. And here’s why:

    - You are in a massive vehicle so people know to get out of the way.

    - You have 6 tires instead of 4 tires, which makes it where the cops can’t bust               your tires as easily.

    - You potentially have a vehicle that has a 30 gallon tank, and some movers have    2 of these monsters. So you could really drive some serious miles…

    - You get to have a comfortable seat to sit in. The shocks on those U-Haul chairs    are great. Not to mention you have a lumbar, man what I would do to get one of    those seats in my car…

Thought #2: If I were being chased, I would use my cell phone the entire time without a headset.

    - If you’re going to jail, you might as well stick it to the man along the way.

Thought #3: Why do you need to drive so fast?

    - The person today kept driving around 90 mph…which just kills the gas mileage!    If it were me, I’d drive 55 mph and just let the cops follow me with hopes that    they’d eventually tire out and give up. The tortoise wins, not the hare.

Thought #4: If I had to give up, I would run away from the road and into a field/forest/lake/pond/etc.

    - The reason is simple: test the endurance of the pursuers…we’ve all seen Police    Academy 1-3, this would see how well they’ve been trained. Plus it adds    another dimension to the chase…

Well, my headache is fading away. Perhaps watching that chase on TV had something to do with it.
