The Humble Quest to find Truth in a Confusing World

  • Books to Read Every Year

Recently I began reading John Piper’s “Don’t Waste Your Life” book again. I am going to be reading and discussing the book with some of my high school students that have said they want to get serious about what it means to follow Christ. So with this weekly discussion group beginning soon I thought it would be a good idea to re-read the book. I have read the first couple of chapters and have realized that this is a book I should read once a year.

There are probably several books that should be read on a consistent basis because they don’t get old and they bring back valuable thoughts that are too easily forgotten. So I’m trying to think of what my list would be…the list of books that need to be read consistently. So far here’s what I’ve got:

    1. “Don’t Waste Your Life” by John Piper

    2. “Animal Dreams” by Barbara Kingsolver

    3. “A Man Without a Country” by Kurt Vonnegut

    4. “The American Crises I (1776)” by Thomas Paine

If you have any selections that you think would need to be a must-read on a consistent basis I would love to know. Maybe a book club could be started that will rival Oprah’s…
